Peaks to Prairie Claims Consulting is founded on integrity. We believe in holding the insurer accountable to the policy for damages sustained due to a covered peril. Our goal is to recover the insured back to their former value in a fair, timely and equitable way.

The Basics

As Loss Consultants, we work with the policyholder to guide them through the claims process and ultimately help them recover the fair market value for their specific loss. We understand the complexity of different losses and can shed light on some cases that insurers might not know how to handle accurately. Our mission is to work to correct claims where the insurer has erred in assessing scope, value, or coverage. We work directly with the insured, investors, and property management companies who simply want to ensure their insurance loss is handled properly and receive a just and accurate resolution.

Loss Evaluation

Have you suffered a loss, but don’t know where to start? We are happy to meet with you and evaluate your property. During this consultation, we will let you know our professional opinion on your loss and whether we think you should file a claim. There is not a fee associated with this evaluation.

Loss Consulting Process

There are multiple avenues to claims consulting and all are uniquely tailored to the individual claim.

  • Public Adjusting

    The Public Adjusting Process begins with a thorough analysis of the insurance policy to determine all coverage that may be applicable to the specific loss. The next step is an investigation to scope the damages and any relevant information pertaining to the loss. We then prepare detailed estimates of building damages and inventories of contents, and work with the insurer to facilitate a complete and accurate resolution with the claim. From the initial consultation to the final resolution, our role as your representative is to provide you with accurate and complete information about your loss and guide you through the options available to obtain a full and complete resolution.

  • Appraisals

    The Appraisal Process is an avenue that is utilized to settle losses. This process is built into the insurance policy and can be used when the insured, investors, property managers, or public adjuster is not able to settle the claim with the insurer and further action is required. This process ultimately moves the claim to an unbiased third party who is brought in to resolve the claim. The insurer, the insured or said representative can demand appraisal. When the appraisal is demanded, both parties will assign an appraiser. The appraisers will compile all supporting documentation relating to said claim and agree to a settlement. Before moving forward with the appraisal, the appraisers will agree to an umpire; if the appraisers are not able to reach an agreement then the appraisal will go to umpire, whose decision on the total claim is final.

Claims Consulting: Why?

Property insurance exists to protect the policyholder and restore the property to pre-loss condition. Sometimes, however, the insurers can fall short of restoring the policyholder completely. This is where Peaks to Prairie Claim Consulting steps in. We utilize our resources and expertise to work with the insurer to achieve an equitable resolution.

We present the insurer with an accurate evaluation of the property, using the insured’s policy to apply coverages properly. Through rigorous research and industry expertise, we compile our file and create a loss report that defines our position. We provide all gathered data to the insurer and give them the opportunity to review and correct any inaccuracies in their original handling.

The insurer is welcomed to provide data on the loss. After this step, we review the data and provide our analysis and any relevant counterpoints which clarify why we have elected the resolution methods and pricing provided in our proof of loss package.

If the insurer still refuses to accept the accurate scope, valuation, and/or coverages, our original stance of no fault on the insurer’s part will begin to evolve. We provide the insurer every reasonable opportunity to do the right thing throughout our process.

We provide the policyholder and relevant parties with updates on the claim throughout our process. In cases of irreconcilable stances on the part of the insurer, we will help evaluate all the options of recourse and act as a guide until final resolution is achieved.

We won’t, at any time, force any party into an uncomfortable position. If the policyholder wishes to accept a lower settlement from the insurer, then we will respect this decision and will facilitate its implementation.
